The Stanley Cup Champions for the year 2006 are the Carolina Hurricanes!!

The Carolina Hurricanes won their first Stanley Cup title, beating the Edmonton Oilers 3-1 in Game 7 on Monday night, taking the series 4-3.

Edmonton fought back from a 3-1 series deficit to force a game 7, but the Hurricane home crowd and the fast start by Carolina proved too much as the Oilers folded under the pressure....finally!!

The Oilers were the 8th seed out of the West, shocking the #1 Detroit Red Wings in round 1, and continuing on to the Finals, and playing their hearts out only to lose in game 7.
