Thanks to an absolute collapse by the St Louis Cardinals this past week, the Reds have their eyes wide open and have won 3 in a row, as the Cards have lost 7 straight games now with 5 games to go. There is only one problem besides the amount of remaining games left, that problem is the Houston Astros who had passed the Reds last week, and are a game in front of the Reds and have a 7 game win streak of their own!
The Astros sit at 79-78, and the Reds at 78-79. The Reds have 2 more games remaining with the Florida Marlins who were officially eliminated from the postseason today, and then finish the season with 3 against lowly Pittsburgh.
The St Louis collapse wasn't entirely unprecedented, as they have lost several games in a row several times this season, but the timing of this one has the fans and city wondering, if they make the playoffs, how much they'll be able to contend once there.
Watch your baseball this week, it's getting good.
