The 2nd Annual Source S&E College Football Awards were annouced minutes ago from Orlando, Florida. From a remote office location in Villa Del Sol the awards were announced with just a few suprises....

Source Coach of the Year:

Chris Petersen - Boise State - CP led the Bronocs to a perfect 12-0 regular season record, and this small school to a major BCS bowl game for the first time ever, and 1st WAC team to ever play in the BCS. Rutgers head football coach Greg Schiano finished a close second in the balloting.

Source Player of the Year:

Troy Smith - Ohio State - Like Vince Young last year, this award was based mostly on the most outstanding player in the nation that means the most to his team. In a close finish we determined that Troy though expected to be the top player on the top team, meant the most to his team, and wins this year's SSE Player of the Year Award. 2nd Place was Darren McFadden, RB from Arkansas.

Best Offensive Player:

Colt Brennan - Hawaii - Reggie did it all last season except throw touchdown passes. Colt did it all this year. He threw for 53 touchdowns and 4,990 yards passing in the regular season, and still has a bowl game upcoming. He is currently tied for the NCAA TD Pass mark in a season with David Klingler at 53. If you didn't see Hawaii play this year, watch their bowl game against Arizona State. You're in for a treat.

Best Defensive Player:

Paul Posluszny- Penn State - Last year's second place finisher wins this year's award. Leading Linebacker U with 108 tackles and 3 sacks, he is fresh off winning his second straight Benarik Award. He is an unstoppable force in the defense, and teams run the other way.
