Speeziepalooza 2006
The stage went dark, their was a soft voice coming from the sound system. The fog was rising from the corner of the drum set. Then out came the first band, one by one. Then some soft riffs from the lead guitar was heard throughout the building. Before I could blink, the fog filled stage was electrified by lights of every color, the blinking of strobes, and the many volts of pure energy that was the start of Speeziepalooza.
The Fifth Columnist kicked off the night with their own rendition of Welcome Home from Coheed and Cambria and finished with an original simply called “Louie”. It was pure enjoyment to watch this band go from progressive rock, to a more soft rock, and end the set with some hardcore rock. This was the bands first gig live. Even with the very noticeable nervousness before the start, when these guys hit the stage, they all looked like pure professionals who have been doing their thing for many, many years.
The next band sent chills as well as laughter. Silverspine out of Detroit, MI brought it. All two members of this band knows how to work a crowd. Jeremy Jason’s facial expressions as well as his storytelling antics was a set not to miss. Be sure to check them out when they come through your area.
Korephase out of Ada, OH was a band I was looking forward to seeing. They did not disappoint me. I was very impressed by how much of a tight sounding band they are. Glenn (their vocalist) has a voice that will defiantly get your attention. Be sure to check these Ohio Northern University dudes out, and be watching for a show brought to you by H&S Promotions at the premiere bar in Ada, The Armory, very soon.
Storm Kills 4, A New Definition, and PulseChamber…… These bands need no write up. If you haven’t heard of them or seen them yet, it’s your loss.
The last band to talk about is a band out of Dayton, OH. WOW! I have thought about what to write about them for quite awhile, and that is all that comes to my head. WOW. The lights, the sound, the stage presence, everything about these guys tell me that I just met a band that I will be paying 25 bucks to see at a sold out show in the future. But see for yourself.
